MELL
Paintings
Mell’s bold representations of the Southwest vacillate
between abstraction and realism. Over the decades, Mell
has showed himself a prolific and most versatile artist—
exchanging Southwestern landscapes for portraits of
cowboys, cattle, and cacti and oil on canvas, his primary
medium, for bronze sculpture. Mell’s work has been
exhibited in dozens of museum shows and is represented in
many public and private collections, including the Phoenix
Art Museum, Eitlejorg Museum, Rockwell-Corning Museum
of Modern Art, and the Tucson Museum of Art.
